Look How Far We’ve Come!🚀Celebrating the First Few Months of The Family Healthcare Playbook!
📣TL;DR: We’ve been busy bringing The Family Healthcare Playbook out into the world! 14 Events & Caregiving Activities in 4 months! Thank you for your support; we're just getting started!
When we launched The Family Healthcare Playbook: An Action Plan for the Accidental Caregiver a few months ago, I had two simple goals: to provide resources and support to help other accidental caregivers, and to ignite an important conversation around the joys and challenges of caregiving. Even though I know the statistics (there are more than 63M of us caregivers in the US), I could never have imagined just how quickly this community would mobilize to engage with and rally around The Family Healthcare Playbook.
📚From local libraries and bookstores to church retreats, hospital conference rooms, and late-night virtual sessions in family living rooms, I’ve crisscrossed the country sharing insights and best practices from The Family Healthcare Playbook. It's been a whirlwind, fueled by your incredible support, and as we head into June, I wanted to take a look back and celebrate some key milestones:
🥇The Family Healthcare Playbook was named an Amazon #1 Best Seller in the Nursing Home and Community Health books section.
🎈14 Events & Caregiving Activities in 4 months! I’ve flown ✈️5000+ miles and driven 🚗1000+ miles to connect with a 👯countless number of caregivers, sharing space, both virtually and in person, across the country, including:
🎉February: Kicked things off on the main stage at Silicon Slopes in Salt Lake City for a talk and book signing, followed by a fireside chat about leadership, career transitions, and caregiving with high school students at the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA Bay Section Conference. Closed out the month with a virtual overview session and caregiving tech product brainstorm with members of Black Women on Boards (BWOB).
🌸March: Joined the Alfred Street Baptist Church caregiving community virtually for a candid conversation with other family caregivers, and hosted an Instagram Live with Jordan Hernandez @completelybooked and @the_accidental_caregiver (that's me!)
☔️April: Hosted local presentations and book signings with the Peninsula Bay Chapter of The Links, Inc., and the Health Cabinet of St. Columba Catholic Church in Oakland. I spent time in virtual community with the women of TITAN Executive Network, and wrapped up with an in-person talk with caregivers and soon-to-be-caregivers at Templeton Library in Paso Robles.
🍋May: Honored Mental Health & Stroke Awareness Month and spotlighted those in the #sandwichgeneration with talks at the Management Leadership for Tomorrow (MLT)20 Summit in NYC, a guest interview on the StarCares Podcast with Dr. Michael Leach, and hosted our inaugural Caregivers’ Action Lab with New York Times best-selling author and fellow caregiver Mirin Fader at Village Well Books and Coffee in Los Angeles.
